Dear Susan,
I thought I had found yore lost dog while I was at Fort Laramie. He appeared to have wandered off of the trail. He showed up at my campfire one evening appearing very hungry and thirsty. I gave him some of my hardtack and he eagerily gobbled it up.
After reading some of the "Lost Dog" notices at the fort, I tried calling him by several names. Unfortunately, when I called "Watch", there was no response; but when I whistled and called "Klide" I got and immedite response. I could hardly keep the dog off of me.
I'm guessin' that means he belongs to the Jones's family. I intend to return him to his rightful owners and collect the $20 reward.

We have found Klide. We found him by the alkali lake, just about to drink some of the water. Come by the knight family wagon to get your dog back.

Our dog Watch has been lost. If you find him please take him to Fort Laramie. Wait for us there. There will be a reward of $2.50.
Please return him to John Smith, Amanda Lukas or Susan Lukas. Watch is a black and tan German Sheppard with one blue eye and one brown eye.
