Grand Canyon Wildflower: Stansbury Cliffrose
|
Stansbury cliffrose is an important browse species for mule deer, elk, pronghorn, desert bighorn sheep, livestock, game birds, and songbirds. This tall tree-like shrub is a shaggy evergreen member of the rose family. Its showy cream-colored blossoms and long white plumed seeds are conspicuous most of the summer. Hopi Indians made sandals, mats, and rope from its shaggy bark, arrows from the wood and medicine from the foliage.
