Mrs. Locklear, Principal and Wagon Mistress of Brooks Museums Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh, NC, shared her heirlooms with fifth grade Westward Ho pioneers in Mrs. Petersons classroom. Mrs. Locklear showed students her pearls, which were passed down through generations of women in her family. She only wears the pearls on Sundays. She also shared recipes and memories of her grandmother who recently passed away. After Mrs. Locklears grandmother died, she was left with a scattered collection of her grandmothers wonderful recipes. She created a recipe book and decided to give each family member a copy of the book for Christmas. |
In the photograph above, she is putting her heirlooms into a chest for safekeeping on the journey westward. |
